Easy and Delicious Pizza Dough
My favourite pizza dough recipe… it’s so easy, so quick, so delicious!
I think sourdough pizza dough will be the next thing I try... but this is the recipe I currently use for pizza night. The spices and seasonings are optional, but really spruce up the crust.
- 1 ½ cups warm milk or water (110°F)
- 2 ¼ tsp yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp pizza or Italian seasoning (optional)
- 1 tsp onion powder (optional)
- ¼ cup melted butter or olive oil
- 4 cups flour
Activate the Yeast
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the warm milk or water, sugar, and yeast. I like to warm the bowl up with hot water before using to help our milk keep temperature better.
Let it sit for about 10 minutes, until the mixture becomes foamy on top.
Stir in the melted butter or olive oil, salt and spices.

Form the Dough
Add the flour one cup at a time into the wet ingredients, mixing between each addition.
A stand mixer (Kitchenaid with dough hook) makes this easy, but kneading by hand works perfectly well too.
Mix or knead until the dough is smooth and slightly elastic.

Lightly oil a clean bowl.
Place the dough inside and brush or rub a little oil on top of the dough ball.
Cover and let rise at room temperature for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Roll the dough out to your preferred thickness (keep in mind it will rise a bit during baking).
Top with sauce, cheese, and your favourite ingredients—wild game, foraged mushrooms, and leeks make an amazing combo.

Preheat your oven to 475°F.
Bake for 15–20 minutes, depending on the thickness of your crust and the heaviness of your toppings.

Optional: Cheesy Garlic Fingers
Instead of pizza toppings, brush the rolled-out dough with garlic butter and sprinkle generously with Parmesan and mozzarella.
Bake the same way and serve with donair sauce or marinara.

- Slowly add flour fixture one cup at a time mixing in between cups. I use the Kitchenaid to make this easier but I’ve definitely made this by hand with great results.

- I also use this dough to make cheesy garlic fingers!! Just add garlic butter, Parmesan and mozzarella.
