15 Best Gifts for hunters in 2023

People are so hard to buy for nowadays. Everything they could every want is just a click away. This makes gift giving holidays more challenging than ever. I've compiled a small list of affordable gift ideas that will be appreciated and adored by any type of hunter - and some of these gift ideas are items they never knew they needed! Good luck.

I know people can be hard to buy for... these are great, inexpensive ideas that will actually be used and appreciated.

Friends often ask me “what’s a good gift for a hunter?” Generally because their spouse hunts and they do not. Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, whatever the heck you celebrate.

These gifts are definitely a "go-to" for me when I am trying to buy for my spouse or a friend, they're also items that I personally use and love.

Your local gun/hunting/outdoors store should have variations of most of these items and they can really use your support.

So, here are the best gifts for hunters:

Hunting Backpack

Coolton Tactical Backpack

There are a ton of fantastic companies that make quality backpacks for hunting, hiking, range days and virtually any other outdoors activity.

My better half and myself both have the Coolton brand. It's very spacious, sturdy, adjustable and even has room for a bladder pack.

SNACKS!

Snacks are crucial for a long hunt. If you get hungry, it's game over.

I have a list of some of my favorite snacks for hunting that are quiet and cost effective. (some healthy, some not so healthy... it's all about balance!)

Making up a cute basket of hunting/fishing/hiking snacks makes for a very thoughtful gift. Be sure to add some little notes to indicate that it's for their outdoor adventures.

Wild Game Cure

Hi Mountain Cure and Seasoning

Jerky, snack sticks and sausages are actually very fun to make, and turn out so much better with the proper cure.

Any hunter would definitely appreciate this gift to help them enjoy their harvests.

Hunting Face Mask

Mossy Oak Unisex Mesh Hunting Mask

Good coverage is a must, and the human face is definitely going to spook any wildlife. This hunting face mask is my favorited because it's very breathable, comfortable and camouflaging. It also works well to keep bugs off of my face during the warm hunts, and fits well over warmer face masks during cold hunts.

Travel French Press

Kizinat French Press Coffee Travel Mug

I won one of these over a year ago in an Instagram giveaway and fell in love right away. It's very convenient, quick and easy to just add a bit of coffee grinds, your boiling water, cream and sugar - throw it into your bag and go!

I find my coffee stayed hot for a while and it didn't leak. It's so nice to have a warm drink while hunting, especially when you're out early on a winter morning.

Rangefinder

TideWe Hunting Rangefinder

There are a lot of well known optics brands that produce phenomenal range finders. A good range finder makes taking an ethical and effective shot a bit easier.

My spouse purchased this rangefinder for me a few years ago. I love it! The rechargeable battery lasts a long time and it has a crisp, clear picture. Definitely a win on his part!

Travel First Aid Kit

First Aid Kit

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I keep one of these kits in my truck, hunting bag and range bag. I don't think it's any surprise that keeping a first aid kit with you while out in the wilderness or on the range where slides bite is a good idea!

Headlamp Toque

Etsfmoa LED Beanie Hat

I own so many of these hats in all different colours. They've been great for hunting, fishing and working outside at night. I find the light lasts a while, it's simple to recharge, and it's fairly bright! I usually hunt or fish alone, so the "hands-free" light is handy for cleaning a harvest, taking the hook out of a catch or walking out of the the bush after a hunt.

Depending on the hunting district and type of hunting, you may want to purchase a blaze orange hat so it is legal. (eg: during rifle deer season, we have to wear bright orange)

Gun Oil

HOPPE'S No. 9 Lubricating Oil

I will often ask for gun oil on my wish list because it's something I keep in my range bag, hunting bag and firearm room.

There are plenty of great gun oils on the market, some a bit less fragrant than this one, but HOPPE'S is my favorited. If you or the one you're buying for don't regularly use gun oil, here's a sign to do so. It is so important and keeps the gun working as it should.

I think most firearm fans can say they have used and love or at least have heard of HOPPE'S.

Hand Warmers

HotHands Hand Warmers

These are a must have if you live or hunt in a cold climate. Working with cold hands is not only uncomfortable, but it is also dangerous.

I always keep handwarmers in my truck, hunting bag and fishing (ice fishing) bag. They work great for hands and toes. I always grab a few packs when they go on sale for myself or as stocking stuffers/add-on gifts for outdoorsy friends.

Decoy (or game meat) Bags

MOPHOEXII Hunting Bags

While I primarily use these light mesh hunting bags to carry my goose or turkey decoys out, they are also great for carrying game meat (like a quartered deer, turkey, goose, etc) back to the vehicle or home.

It's so much easier to carry my plastic flock or turkey crew out to my hunting spot with these. They're very spacious as well.

Cook Books! (The Hunter Chef Cookbook)

The Hunter Chef Cookbook

This beautiful cookbook by a Canadian wild game chef is a must have. It's important to properly process and enjoy our harvest and this book will definitely help you build the skills and give you the recipes to do so.

Books! (On Hunting)

On Hunting

On Hunting is eye opening, inspiring and educational. I am very picky when it comes to books and I love this book. I am currently reading it for a second time.

Any hunter, or anyone that is even slightly interesting in the lifestyle would definitely find benefit in this book.

Books about hunting, foraging, firearms, wild game processing or cooking, whatever - these can be cherished by someone that enjoys books!

Ear Protection (Electronic)

Walker's Razor Slim Low Profile Electronic Earmuffs

Okay, so many people refuse to wear ear protection when hunting. I wish I started wearing it sooner, especially when bird hunting with a large group.

I use these walkers while sport shooting and hunting. It enhances the sounds around me and goes silent when a shot is fired.

They come in so many neat colours also and they're really comfortable.

Something Customized

Customized can be very thoughtful. You can find beautiful customized scratch box turkey calls, gun slings, knives, basically anything from local or internet small businesses.

I've seen some gorgeous custom turkey calls with the hunter's photo, and leather slings for shotguns or rifles with the hunter's name and animal imprinted.

Worth googling for sure.
